If you’re tired of modern computing this morning, how about starting your day using an Amiga 500? Thanks to Google developer Christian Stefansen you can do just that, and it’s awesome.

Stefansen has just published his Amiga 500 emulator, which carefully recreates the 1980s OS as a Web app that runs in Chrome. Pulling together 400,000 lines of code originally written in C, he’s successfully ported it to the Portable Native Client (PNaCl) foundation built into Chrome. He explains:

“The original port to Native Client was done in four days. However, there was a lot of polishing afterwards, taking at least four times as long as the original port.”

Impressive stuff. And it works well. Really well. So what are you waiting for? Go play some games, dammit. [Amiga 500 Emulator via CNET]
