Boston-based artist Pelle Cass turns thousands of images into beautiful time-lapse photographs for his series Selected People. It kind of feels like trick photography, but it takes a discerning eye, a quick trigger finger, and a lot of editing. Here’s how he does it.

As you can see in this short film from the Creators Project, Cass will set up his camera in one location—in this case he’s at the High Line, a NYC park built on an old elevated railway—and snap thousands of pictures at a time. Then, he goes into Photoshop and takes the most interesting people, plopping them into a single file.

The resulting images show ordinary places filled with extraordinary things, like hundreds of people wearing the same color or thousands of squirrels. Pretty amazing stuff. [Creators Project]
