2G iPod mini Reviewed (Verdict: Insanely Okay)

I actually read the iPodlounge review of the new second-generation iPod mini, despite the fact I’ve never been a huge mini advocate myself and don’t expect to be any time soon. The new iPod mini looks like a great player—the 26-hour battery life is killer—but Apple’s definitely moving away from some of the values that once made the brand seriously great. For instance, I knew about the lack of bundled FireWire cables with the new iPods, but did you know the new models don’t come with a power adapter? That’s a potentially crappy thing to do new iPod mini owners, many of whom will be ready to play with their first iPod, only to be forced to make another trip to the store to charge up (not everyone has powered USB ports on their PC).

iPodlounge also confirmed that the new blue and pink are much less pastel and more “saturated,” which will please some, and not others.
