3D World's Three-Eyed Camera Makes 3D Photo Shoots a Reality

Design-wise, 3D World's three-lens shooter looks like a camera experiment gone wrong. But the reason the 120 Tri-lense Stereo Camera was fitted with an extra pair of eyes is so that it could take "3D images." Here's the catch though. You'll need a special viewer to make it all work. So in the long run, you might be better of snatching one of these for your next 3D photo shoot.

I'm kinda confused. I, just like most people I know, only have two eyes. So what part of my body is seeing that third picture being produced? The description on Wireds page says that the third interpolates the images, but.....why? This seems like someone said "You know if we put a third lens on it we can make some extra money and make people have to buy our stereo viewer instead of just de-crossing your eyes to see the image".
