For a second I was excited about Addonics’ new “MFR” device (Multifunction Recorder), a new 25-function device (so they say; I didn’t count) that can read 11 different types of flash media cards and can record onto six different types of optical media (DVDs and CDs, that is). But while copying flash memory to DVD is a neat trick, and so is projecting it from the unit to a DVD or monitor, for $320 I really, really wanted this to have a hard drive in it, even if it were just a little one. Why? I don’t know, I just do; mainly for using as a buffer to mix-and-match data pre-burn. That being said, for certain niche applications (field photographers, etc.) the MFR could be really handy. I wonder if you can copy from multiple cards onto a single disk at once?
If you don’t need DVD burning, there’s a CD-R version for about $70 less.
