The Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer and Convection Oven is a countertop oven that combines air frying, baking, roasting, broiling, toasting, and six other cooking functions in a single unit. The Element iQ system inside uses five independent quartz heating elements that deliver power to different parts of the oven based on the cooking mode, and Super Convection reduces cooking times by up to 30% compared to a traditional oven. The 1800-watt motor and interior room for a 13-inch pizza give a full countertop workspace.
A must-have kitchen gadget to help you get dinner out on the table in a flash
Element iQ is Breville’s term for an advanced heating system using five quartz heating elements in the oven. It dynamically controls the energy distribution among the elements based on their location and whether the convection fan is engaged. Two heating elements are on top of the oven, two on the bottom, and one is specifically dedicated to the convection fan, which allows for consistent heating throughout the oven. Based on the type of cooking being performed, such as baking cookies, broiling a steak, or air-frying chicken wings, Element iQ will automatically adjust which elements to use as well as their level of operation.
The front panel offers 11 cooking functions. Toast, Bagel, Bake, Broil, Roast, Warm, Pizza, Air Fry, Cookies, Slow Cook, and Reheat are all one-touch presets. Air Fry replaces a standalone countertop air fryer, using the convection fan at full speed to crisp battered or breaded foods without deep-fry oil. Slow Cook mode also holds low-temperature cycles for stews, roasts, or braises that would normally require a Crock-Pot or Dutch oven.
Interior dimensions measure 13.5 inches wide by 11.5 inches deep by 5.5 inches tall, sized to fit a 13-inch pizza, a 9×13-inch casserole dish, or a 9-cup muffin tray without cramming. The oven has three rack positions that let you cook multiple items at once, which is useful for reheating a sheet pan of leftovers or baking two stacked batches of cookies. A wire rack, air fry basket, enamel roasting pan, non-stick 13-inch pizza pan, and broiling rack all ship in the box for immediate use.
Controls on the front panel include an LCD display, a temperature dial, a function dial, and a time dial for manually setting cook times. The LCD shows the current program, temperature setting, and remaining cook time in a single readable view. Pre-heat completion triggers an audio alert and starts the cook timer automatically. Interior lighting turns on at the end of a cooking cycle to help you check doneness without opening the door. Adjustable auto-off timers also manage unattended operation for longer bakes.
Breville is in the higher end of the countertop oven category, priced for anyone tired of buying separate air fryers, toasters, and small ovens that break within a couple of years. The 2-year limited warranty applies to manufacturing defects and reflects the quality tier. The sale price is $280 for the smart oven, $70 off the retail price.
