With Prime Day around the corner, some items listed at Amazon are already finding themselves on sale ahead of schedule. Prime Day doesn’t officially begin until next Tuesday, June 23 and will last until the end of the work week on Friday, June 26. Despite this, you can find products like the Apple AirPods 4 having gone down $30 in price.
The Apple AirPods 4 are normally set at $129, but Amazon now has them at a 23% discount for just $99. This is for the model without support for active noise cancellation. If you would like ANC-support, that model is also discount by 17%. Typically sold for $179, the price has dropped to just $149 for a limited time.
The Apple AirPods are four generations deep and are still perhaps the most recognizable earbuds out there. This latest version released almost two years ago, and mostly remain the same as the previous iteration but with some key changes.
Aesthetically, they’ve refined the form of the earbuds by adjusting the contour along the side as well as shortening the stem which makes for an overall sleeker look. They also are designed to fit more comfortably in ones ears while staying more secure. The new form has better weight distribution to help keep them in place. The shorter stem still has all the touch functionality users expect like play, pause, and skip track.
Improved Sound and Vocal Clarity
Under the hood, Apple has also updated the chipset to the H2. This paves the way for better performance and audio quality during both phone calls and video chats. The H2 chip is capable of a more advanced form of voice isolation which helps to mute any unwanted sounds coming from around the wearer. This means the folks on the other end of the call should be hearing you and only you, crystal clear.
The H2 chip also helps to improve audio quality on your end thanks to the new acoustic architecture. High frequencies can be heard with better clarity than before and the bass comes off punchier as well when compared against the Apple AirPods 3.
Siri has also gotten some added functionality. Beyond just the typical voice commands, Apple AirPods 4 users can now respond to Siri with all new gesture-controls. When prompted by Siri with a question, you can now respond by either nodding your head yes, or shaking your head no. It’s a nice option for when you’re in a situation where speaking wouldn’t be appropriate.
The charging case has also now fully adopted Apples big migration away from its proprietary Lightning cable over to the standard USB-C protocol.
