Crush

Deadline reports Julius Avery (The Pope’s Exorcist, Overlord) is attached to direct Crush, a “snake-themed survival thriller for 20th Century Studios.” The film is said to follow “a woman hiking alone in the Everglades who wakes to find herself trapped in the crushing coils of a massive python, fighting to stay alive as every breath brings her closer to death.” According to the outlet, the picture “is said to be inspired by true events” and “told primarily in real time.”


Ice Cream Man

Variety reports Eli Roth has teamed with the San Francisco-based ice cream company, Humphry Slocombe, on a promotional tie-in flavor for his new horror film, Ice Cream Man. Called “Brain Freeze,”  the limited-edition flavor “will be available throughout the month of August at all eight Humphry Slocombe Bay Area scoop shops” and is described as a “playful nod to classic bubblegum ice cream” with “swirls of house-made strawberry jam.” Nationwide delivery will also become available through Goldbelly.


Alpha Gang

Discussing Film has our first look at the cast of Alpha Gang, the new film from the Zellner Brothers (Sasquatch Sunset) in which “a group of alien invaders [are] sent to conquer Earth. Disguised in human form as a 1950s leather-clad biker gang, they are ruthless in their mission… until they succumb to the most toxic and contagious human condition of all: emotion.” Cate Blanchett, Léa Seydoux, Dave Bautista, Riley Keough, Lily-Rose Depp, Adria Arjona, and Chris Pine star.

Hellcat

A woman with a zombie virus-adjacent flesh wound awakens to find herself aboard a moving camper in search of medical care in the trailer for Hellcat, coming to Shudder this August 14.


Robin Hood

Deadline reports James Purefoy, Colin O’Donoghue, and Luke Roberts have joined the second season of Robin Hood at MGM+. Purefoy will play King Henry opposite O’Donoghue as Prince Richard, while Roberts has been cast as “the ambitious” Amaury D’Montfort, who “reshapes the political landscape, forcing Rob and his allies to navigate shifting loyalties, royal power struggles and dangerous new threats.”

Peacock has released a second short promo for the Friday the 13th prequel series, Crystal Lake.

President Curtis contends with a “Wendigo outbreak” in a new clip from his upcoming spinoff series.

Finally, Morty and Summer are shipped to an off-world sleepaway camp in an extended clip from “Salute Your Morts,” this week’s new episode of Rick and Morty.
