Altec Lansing has a new set of gaming headphones, the AHS602s, with now-ubiquitous boom mike and “SRS 3-D Audio,” which is not to be mistaken with actual surround sound but instead more than likely is yet another slightly-out-of-phase stereo technology (which works well enough, but I’m just saying). For a hundred bills the 40mm neodymium drivers – some call them speakers – better sound pretty swell. You can get a nice pair of closed-ear headphones for half that, then throw in any random boom bike for $5.
