The Amazon Fire HD 10 Tablet is Amazon’s largest standard Fire tablet, built around a 10.1-inch 1080p display with more than two million pixels. An octa-core processor runs the tablet, paired with 3GB of RAM, and Amazon says that’s 25% faster than the previous generation. Storage starts at 32GB and a microSD card can take it up to 1TB.

Head over to Amazon to get the Amazon Fire HD 10 Tablet for just $130, down from its usual price of $180. That’s a $50 discount and 28% off.

A reliable and versatile tablet with a variety of use cases

Before you buy a Fire tablet, which runs on Fire OS rather than standard Android, keep this in mind. When shopping for apps for your new tablet, you’ll use the Amazon Appstore rather than the Google Play Store, so while Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Prime Video, TikTok, Instagram, and Zoom are all available for download from the Amazon Appstore, nothing made by Google is. If your household uses Gmail and Google Docs primarily, a Fire tablet probably isn’t what you need. On the other hand, for watching movies and TV shows and reading books, the Fire HD 10’s app library has everything you’ll likely need.

The Fire HD 10’s 10.1-inch screen has a 1920 by 1200 resolution, and Amazon says it’s about 20% brighter than the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 screen from 2022. The glass on the Fire HD 10 screen is aluminosilicate glass, the same class of strengthened glass used on most smartphones. In fact, Amazon claims its own tumble tests show the Fire HD 10 is roughly 2.7 times as resistant to damage as the Tab A8.

Storage options for the Fire HD 10 include either 32GB or 64GB depending on which model you purchase. Both models also have a microSD card slot that accepts a card up to one terabyte. That’s significant on Fire tablets compared with many other tablets, as they tend to fill up quickly when you download large movie files. Amazon managed to shave more than 30 grams off the Fire HD 10, bringing the total weight to about 434 grams.

Both cameras are 5MP and record 1080p video, and the front camera sits along the landscape edge rather than the top, which keeps you centered during a video call when the tablet is sitting in a case. Alexa is built in hands-free, so you can ask for a show, check the weather, or set a timer without touching the screen.

Stylus support is new to this generation, and the Made for Amazon Stylus Pen offers 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity for writing and drawing, though the pen itself is sold separately. The Amazon Fire HD 10 Tablet is $130 right now instead of $180, and the base version shows sponsored screensavers on the lock screen unless you pay a bit more for the ad-free option.
