Here’s another color-screen portable music player that’s pimping its photo-viewing capability: the Asono Elio. The 20GB player doesn’t have TV-out abilities like Apple’s new iPod Photo, but it does better it in at least two ways. First, it has a built-in SD card slot for copying photos and data over from other devices; It also supports USB Host, so cameras and other compliant devices can copy their data directly over to the Elio. While I’m only so-so on the SD card support, I’d probably trade USB Host ability for the iPod Photo’s AV-out. I guess one is designed to help you while you’re taking photos, and the other is designed to help you share your photos with others.
No price or availability information around yet for the States. It better be at least as cheap as a 20GB non-Photo iPod.
