Another Nokia 6820 Review

The Register has a belated review of the Nokia 6820, the non-traditional Series 40 flip-phone with the built-in QWERTY keyboard, but it’s worth linking to as El Reg always has interesting things to say. And interesting things to link, I might add, like this Series 40 SSH client (SSH clients are pretty much a platform prerequisite for me, needed or not). The phone, as before, is a hit-or-miss device (and does not, as the picture might suggest, occasionally launch itself majestically into flight), with plenty to recommend it (namely, the form factor) but lots to dissuade most buyers, like wonky Java support. The 6820 prompts a couple of questions from The Register that I’ve asked myself: where is the Series 60 phone with this form factor, and how soon will it be before all phones come with QWERTY keyboards?
