AT&T/Cingular Confirms Treo 650

No big surprise, but AT&T Wireless has officially announced that they will be selling a version of the PalmOne Treo 650—the “first EDGE-Capable Palm OS Handheld.” The slight information doesn’t exactly make it clear if the Bluetooth stack will be crippled to prevent using the Treo as a modem for another device (we’ll suppose it isn’t broken for now. Update: The PDF data sheet mentions “Wireless synchronize with your desktop or laptop” so I think we’re good to go).

Now I have a hard choice to make: get the Sprint Treo with unlimited Vision internet minutes or get the potentially-faster AT&T EDGE version with restricted access. As much as I’d like to stay GSM, the fact that Sprint will probably get the first wave of Treos (rumors put other carrier’s Treo supplies backlogged until ’05) might be too much to resist.
