Based on tests, we had circa 80% 5G and only 20% 4G usage when we went to less-urban regions within these major cities.

When we visited Copacabana (one day only), Holafly used 4G data the entire day, which may be a coincidence, as Saily mixed 5G and 4G depending on your location within Copacabana.

With Holafly, pricing is simple: it’s $8.50 per day of unlimited data. We ended up paying $30.90 for our 7-day trip, and it was enough to get us through. One thing we noticed is that we could only share 500 MB of data per day, so we spent more money on another eSIM; that’s the only thing we didn’t like.

On the flip side, there’s 24/7 live chat support, which never responded in more than 20-30 seconds. It’s there if you face activation issues or have coverage issues. We never did, as it’s one of the simplest Brazil eSIM options, which activated when we landed.

In these plans, Airalo uses its own 4G network, so the internet is a tad slower (about 20% in our tests). The only downside, in our tests, was its slow-to-respond customer service, which always took more than 2 minutes to get back to us; Holafly took seconds.

5. Jetpac: Best eSIM for Brazil for Lounge Access

Jetpac is a Brazil eSIM with travel perks, specifically lounge access, useful when your flight is postponed, and you need a place to rest. We used this eSIM in Spain, France, and Thailand, but its performance in Brazil was the strongest. In particular, Jetpac delivers 5G data in Rio and Sao Paulo, with occasional dips (maybe 15% of the time) to LTE, still fast and reliable.

Jetpac’s main network partner is Claro, typically slower than Vivo and TIM on 5G networks, as we’ve noticed in our tests. At least, its coverage was consistent, and we had almost no issues. Jetpac starts at $4 for 1 GB of data for 4 days, but we tested the 3 GB plan for 7 days for $10. For some reason, Jetpac excludes unlimited data Brazil eSIM plans.

You can only go up to 30 GB for $49.99 for 30 days, making Saily, Ubigi, Holafly, and Airalo a better value proposition. Though Jetpac differs from the rest with its unlimited data for Uber, Grab, WhatsApp Chat, and Google Maps.
