1. Saily: Best 5G eSIM for Vietnam

Pros

  • Consistent 5G coverage
  • Cheap for short stays
  • Built-in data tracker
  • VPN-like security
  • Blocks ads to save data

Cons

  • Pricier unlimited data plans

Our #1 eSIM for Vietnam, Saily, was the best performer in our tests. We had constant 5G in Da Nang and Hanoi, and in 2 weeks of our stay, zero connection issues. We also observed its performance for streaming and VoIP calling. When watching Netflix in Full HD, there was no long buffering, and even video calls were smooth.

Saily is very affordable, starting at $3.99 for 1 GB of data for 7 days. Plans go up to 30 days, and the most you can get is unlimited data. We tested Saily with the unlimited plan for 15 days for $48.99. We didn’t have to use its data tracker, but it’s there if you buy a data-limited plan. Saily also includes security features.

💰 Savings Alert: You can drop 15% off every Saily plan with the promo code GIZMODO in May 2026. For more information, read our Saily Coupon Code guide.

For instance, it has 115+ virtual locations, an ad blocker, which also saves you data, and a malicious URL blocker for safer browsing. Its 24/7 live chat support is available, but it’s only reachable from the app. It’s also among the best eSIMs for Vietnam with a refund policy if its eSIM doesn’t work for you or you’re unsatisfied with the performance.

2. Ubigi: Solid Coverage in Vietnam

Pros

  • 5G coverage in the entire Vietnam
  • One-off and monthly plans
  • Affordable unlimited data plans
  • Unlimited data tethering

Con

  • Unresponsive support

Our recent Ubigi review praised its speed, reliability, and ease of setup. After using it for 2 weeks in Vietnam’s most densely populated regions, we had zero connection issues, and we mostly enjoyed 5G connections. That translated to smooth streaming and quality VoIP calls on WhatsApp and Viber, our two main testing apps.

Ubigi’s main advantage is flexibility. You can pay for a one-off plan, which we tested (3 GB for 15 days for $6.90), or get a monthly plan with 20 GB/month for $19/month. This plan renews automatically. Ubigi even offers unlimited data, starting at only $24.9 for 7 days. Unlimited data sharing is also available in all plans.

On paper, Ubigi has all it needs to be the best eSIM for Vietnam in 2026. But it’s not as fast as Saily. In Hanoi, we measured a peak of 267 Mbps during busy hours (20-21h) with Saily, while Ubigi’s peak was 251 Mbps (recorded on Vinaphone’s network). Another downside is customer support, which was always slow to respond and rarely available through live chat.

3. Holafly: Best eSIM for Vietnam With Unlimited Data

Pros

  • 200+ countries
  • Instant activation
  • Unlimited and unthrottled data
  • 24/7 live chat support

Cons

  • Data-only eSIM
  • Tethering limits

Holafly is a solid Vietnam eSIM if you accept nothing but unlimited data. There’s no option to go below. A day of unlimited data is $3.90, and the longer the stay, the lower the price. We bought a 15-day plan at $50.90; you do the math on how much we saved. For the price, Holafly’s performance was almost on par with Saily.

Its coverage is mostly 5G, but frequent dips to LTE were more pronounced in Da Nang. Our approximation is that it’s 50-50 in the LTE-to-5G ratio. Still, Holafly never had issues, and we could always boot up Netflix or engage in family video calls on Viber. Holafly activates as soon as you land, which is convenient.

You also have intuitive iOS/Android apps where you can manage your plan or extend it if you plan to stay longer. Its support is our favorite feature. It’s available via live chat, 24/7, and it responds in 20 seconds tops. We were only disappointed with its limited data tethering of 500 MB per day, not ideal for group travel.

4. Airalo: Most Flexible eSIM for Asia and Vietnam

Pros

  • Reliable 4G connections
  • Flexible pricing
  • No limits on data sharing

Cons

  • Slower-to-respond customer support
  • Only 4G data in Vietnam

Airalo is a mid-range eSIM for Vietnam with solid coverage and stable connections, but only 4G data. It’s naturally slower than Saily and Ubigi, but not as slow as we thought. Testing it in Da Nang and Hanoi, we observed an average speed of 134 Mbps (Vinaphone), very close to 4G’s upper download limit. That was enough for calling and streaming.

During tests, we relied on its 10 GB plan for 15 days at $15.50. But the cheapest one is the 1 GB plan for 3 days at $4. Airalo even offers unlimited plans, starting at $10.50 for 3 days. If you need data sharing, Airalo doesn’t limit you, and we heavily took advantage of that by using only one eSIM in Vietnam for the 3 of us.

On the flip side, its customer support wasn’t very responsive. We contacted them via live chat, but they responded in 3 minutes; Holafly took ~20 seconds. If we had to choose between roaming and Airalo as our choice of eSIM in Vietnam, we wouldn’t think twice. It’s the best eSIM for Asia, and that includes Vietnam.

5. Jetpac: Free Data (WhatsApp/Maps/Uber) + Lounge Access

Pros

  • Free data for essential apps
  • Lounge access (1-6 persons)
  • Frequent discounts

Cons

  • Not the fastest eSIM for Vietnam
  • Mostly relies on 4G

We haven’t tested Jetpac’s lounge access addon, but it’s unique to this eSIM for Vietnam and extremely useful for postponed flights. If that happens, you can get lounge access for one to six persons to replenish, rest, and wait for another flight. We, however, tested its eSIM plan with unlimited data for 15 days for $41.99.

It was fast, though mostly reliant on 4G data, where we recorded average speeds of “only” 128 Mbps (Vinaphone). Slow compared to the rest, but still moderately fast. Streaming on Netflix in Full HD was buffer-free, and VoIP calls were satisfying. Jetpac starts at $4 for 1 GB of data for 4 days, perfect for a short stay.

But each plan, say, 3 GB, 5 GB, 15 GB, etc., is customizable, depending on the trip length. We also noticed that Jetpac includes free data for essential apps, like Grab, Uber, WhatsApp Chat, and Google Maps. Unlimited data sharing is a plus, and its 24/7 multi-channel support responds quickly via email, WhatsApp, or live chat.

Summary: What is the Best eSIM for Vietnam in 2026?

Install it before you fly. Saily, Ubigi, Holafly, Airalo, and Jetpac don’t start counting until you connect to a Vietnamese network, so there’s no reason to wait. Way better than fumbling with a QR code at Noi Bai while the immigration line moves on without you. Heading somewhere else after Vietnam?
