When I go into the local middle- and high-schools each week for my “Gizmodo: Talkin’ Teen” heart-to-heart rap session, the number one inquiry I get from the kids during our Q&A is, “Yo, when is Mick Fleetwood going to endorse a set of Cambridge SoundWorks portable speakers?” And I chuckle a little then, and walk over and my put my hand on their shoulder, and try to explain to these mixed up young persons that despite their enduring affection for Fleetwood Mac’s seminal 1977 release Rumors, the pressures of Big Media conglomerates have persisted to keep Mick out of the speaker game. Then we all smoke a big doob because I’m down.
But next week, when some young gangbanger inevitably asks me that very same question, I’m going to look them right in the eyes and whisper into the mic, “Today, my young peer. Today.”
Cambridge SoundWorks has not mentioned if it is appropriate to call the $400 Mick Fleetwood Signature Model Twelves’ included amplifier the “Stevie Mixer,” probably because that’s sort of lame.
