Dave at US News tells us Charter Communications is the new home broadband to beat, offering 60Mbps downloads using Docsis 3.0 via coax cable. Is that the reigning champ?

Currently, Comcast delivers 50Mbps using the same technology, at $150 a month. Verizon is clocking in at 50Mbps as well, over FiOS fiber, and may up the ante soon. Other countries still spank the crap out of the US in max broadband performance, but it’s nice to see the competition alive and kicking.

The big questions are where, when and for how much will Charter offer the service. If you have Charter, give ’em a call. [US News and World Report]
