If you follow American politics, you know that Christine O’Donnell just won the Republican Senate primaries in Delaware. But you may not have realized that she is a huge Middle Earth geek. In the 1990s she wrote a paper on images of women in Lord of the Rings, and later presented it to an audience where she was asked how she felt about Peter Jackson’s adaptation (answer: hated it).
