In an attempt to promote the sales of front-projecting displays (‘projectors’), some companies will be selling combination projectors/DVD players this year, such as this Cinego D-100. This D-100 isn’t a super-high-end product, but it does have all the connections you need to hook it up into a full home theater system, while retaining built-in speakers if you want to use it standalone. Consider you’ll be able to walk into Radio Shack and drop $1,300 to get what is essentially a full home theater system (with screen), I could see these being pretty popular. But then again, I’m a front-projection fan—not everyone can deal with its limitations (dim daytime screen, smug sense of superior frugality).
