Cingular Test Hits 3 Megabit

Lucent and Cingular completed a test today of some next generation cellular data technology that hit data rates of up to 3Mbps. The service, called High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA), is built on the UMTS service that Cingular is slowing deploying in some markets and could possibly reach speeds as high as 14.4Mbps.

I hit 14.4 once with Zmodem on my old US Robotics external and nobody wrote a story about me.
