Coordinated Anarchy Tools at the RNC

Whatever you feel about the Republican National Committee coming to New York next month, there’s one thing I think we can all agree on – it’s going to be a serious clusterfuck. And depending on how you look at it, groups like the Bureau of Inverse Technology and Bikes Against Bush will either be adding static or piercing through it; either way they’re using some pretty cool tech to do it, and Paul Schmelzer writes up just a few of the projects in this month’s Adbusters. Thankfully, Paul has placed his “writer’s cut” of the piece online for your perusal.

My favorite? BIT’s balloon-kiting rollerblader who will pull an airborne camera through the crowds of protestors to film video that will be later processed to get accurate headcounts – something that the police will inevitably lowball, and the protesters will inevitably overstate. Also, who do I have to talk to to get into Tag alone with that Operation in Urban Terrain game? That sounds like fun (as long as it makes absolutely no redeeming social statement. Otherwise let’s just booze up and riot).
