Dell Axim X50v Reviewed

Looks like PDA Buyers Guide has the first review of the Dell Axim X50v and there’s no finer group of people to get a hold of one, I say. Something that struck me immediately was that, despite what is sort of an ugly case design to me, they say it feels very comfortable in the hand—not too big, not too small. I also found it somewhat amusing that the X50v has 16MB of video RAM (with 3D acceleration, no less). It wasn’t that long ago that an entire PDA could run on a fourth of that. Strangely, though, the extra spiffy video setup still lags opening windows from time to time, and it shouldn’t. Hopefully, Dell will update some drivers for greater performance.

All in all, though, they’re pretty happy with the X50v. It offers almost the same performance as the VGA HP iPaq hx4700 for $150 less.
