These are the new Creative Zen Micro 5GB players, and they do not suck. They have a very nice heft in the hand, and a nice, translucent plastic back cover, like an iPod had turned itself inside out. The screen is crisp and the touch pad is pleasing. It’s clear they’re betting a lot on this player, because it was almost all they were promoting in their booth. They also have the MuVo Micro, an even-tinier flash-based player. It looks like MuVo is going to be the flash players again, with the Zen name perhaps handling hard disk-based duties. The Zen Micro also has a replaceable battery, so you can keep charged spares handy.
The Zen Micro remotes match the Micro itself, and are very cute. Someone is making a speaker dock for the unit, as well. I want to say Belkin, but obviously I have spaced it. Maybe I should be taking notes at these things.
