The DJI Mini 3 is a foldable camera drone that weighs under 249 grams, keeping it below the FAA registration threshold for recreational flight in the US. The Fly More Combo adds two extra batteries, a charging hub, and a shoulder bag to the base drone, plus the DJI RC controller with a 5.5-inch built-in screen. The Mini 3 shoots 4K HDR video and 48MP stills through a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor and supports True Vertical Shooting by rotating the gimbal 90 degrees for portrait content.

The DJI Mini 3 Fly More Combo is currently $449 on Amazon, down from its $719 list price for a 38% discount.

A handy kit for upping your aerial photography game no matter how you decide to build it

Drones weighing less than 250 grams are exempt from the FAA registration requirement for recreational flight in the US, and similar rules apply in most other countries. The Mini 3 was designed to stay under the 249-gram threshold, so you can fly without filling out paperwork or attaching registration markings to the body. Plus, the lower weight means the drone is more travel-friendly than larger drones, fitting into a small shoulder bag or a corner of a carry-on.

Aerial photographers used to deal with grainy, washed-out drone footage as the trade-off for portability. The Mini 3’s camera changes that calculus. An f/1.7 aperture lets the lens capture more light in the first place, which translates into footage that looks closer to a Sony mirrorless than to a typical hobby drone. Vertical Shooting is the feature that won over most Instagram and TikTok creators when DJI announced the drone. The gimbal flips 90 degrees on a dedicated axis, capturing 9:16 video natively instead of relying on a software crop.

The Fly More Combo ships with three Intelligent Flight Batteries, a Two-Way Charging Hub that doubles as a power bank for your phone in a pinch, and a shoulder bag for carrying everything. The DJI RC controller has a 5.5-inch screen built into the body and lets you power on and launch within seconds. The whole kit takes up about as much space as a hardcover novel and weighs less than a one-liter water bottle.

Five preset flight patterns, called QuickShots, handle common cinematic moves: Dronie, Helix, Rocket, Circle, and Boomerang. The Mini 3 also supports GPS Return to Home, which brings the drone back to the takeoff point if you lose signal or run low on battery. DJI O2 video transmission supports a maximum range of up to 10 km under the FCC standard.

At $449, down from $719, the Fly More Combo bundles the drone, the DJI RC controller with a built-in screen, three batteries, the charging hub, and the shoulder bag together. The extra batteries alone add about 76 minutes of flight time over the base drone.
