There’s a new flash player from Digital Mind Corporation (called the DMC Flash Player) that actually looks like a pretty good deal. $100 will net you at 256MB player (MP3 only) with a built-in SD/MMC card slot. That takes my three personal favorite things in a flash player—cheap price, built-in USB plug, and easy expansion—and makes them taste great together. I’ve hated suggest flash players to people for $200+ when they can’t be upgraded because I just didn’t feel like it was worth the money.
On the down side, the battery life is only so-so at 6 hours per AAA battery (rechargeable) and it only uses a USB 1.1 connection. Still, I’d hit it.
