If you’re going to fight the iPod, you’ve got to have a hook. The Entempo Rubato has a very nifty one (which is good, because its name sounds like a Yngwie Malmsteen album): it can analyze any song on its 20GB and build an instant playlist by using sound analysis to find other, similar songs. Who knows if it’s worth a damn, but with built-in FM tuning and voice recording, as well—all for just $240—it’s probably worth giving it a shot.
