Every House Should Have a Secret Hidden Exterior Door

There’s something about secret doors that makes my spine tingle. The excitement! The mystery! But most secret doors are on the inside of a house—pull that book to reveal a hidden chamber! push that wall through!—this one, amazingly, is on the outside. It’s so good you don’t even see it.

Here was what was used to build the secret door:

Exterior door

Red cedar

HardiPlank Siding

Morning Industry Keypad and Remote Deadbolt

Ball Catch

Cabinet hinges

Hose bib (for the exterior door handle)

Dummy knob (for interior door handle)

Sounds so simple to make! The door opens either through remote or by inputting the code on the hidden keypad. I’m going to make a door like this in my future home. [YouTube via BoingBoing]
