We are very, very excited about this series about everyone left behind after the Rapture. Please do not fail us, Damon Lindelof.
Tom Perrotta (Election) and Damon Lindelof (Lost) have combined forces to bring Perotta’s rapture book The Leftovers to HBO. If you’re read the book, you know this is going to be a very intense series, but if not, here’s a bit more detail: The story takes place just after about 10% of the Earth’s population has been lifted to heaven. The people who remain behind struggle to make peace with the loss. Some go back to work, some join suicide clubs, other rediscover their faith or join cults. It’s high, high drama and tension — and totally perfect for an HBO series.
The Leftovers will premiere on June 15th.
