Fujitsu has announced the availability of thin and lightweight plastic touch panels technologies that will make it easier and cheaper for gadget companies to offer touchscreen capabilities to even the lowest-end devices. Instead of the more expensive and fragile film-glass technologies, the new Film-Film and Film-Film-Plastic (Go Go Happy Punk Rock!) use a plastic backer that is more durable and flexible and should add only about $5 and $11, respectively, to the cost of gadgets that take advantage of the technology.
