Of all the PC sites on the internets to threaten to sue, HardOCP is probably the brass-balled choice of not-champions. That’s made no more apparent than the 180 that Futuremark—makers of the once-standard PC hardware benchmarking suite 3DMark—pulled after first confronting Kyle Bennet for saying their flagship product sucked, then quickly retracting any threats of lawsuits and begging for Kyle’s (and the community’s) forgiveness. Futuremark was already on unsteady ground, since their benchmarking product is notorious for its inability to always provide an accurate picture of ‘real world’ performance. I can think of better ways to bring back PC enthusiasts’ love than threatening to sue relatively high-profile writers who have already fended off suits from other half-mad companies.
