The Garmin Instinct 3 GPS Smartwatch is a rugged outdoor watch from Garmin. This model features a 45mm AMOLED display, a metal-reinforced bezel, and a fiber-reinforced polymer case. It lasts up to 18 days in smartwatch mode. The watch has an LED flashlight built into the housing with different modes, including varying intensity, red light, and strobe. Multi-band GPS and SatIQ provide the necessary navigation tools, along with a 3-axis compass and a barometric altimeter. The device was manufactured according to MIL-STD-810 standards and is water-rated to a depth of 100 meters.

Head over to Amazon to get the Garmin Instinct 3 GPS Smartwatch for just $299, down from its usual price of $450. That’s a $151 discount and 34% off.

A fitness-focused smartwatch to help you focus on wellness

The AMOLED display is the headline change for the Instinct line, since every previous generation used a monochrome transflective panel. Colors, maps, and workout animations all show up properly now, and the 1.2-inch screen on this 45mm model is larger than the Solar version at the same case size. A scratch-resistant lens covers it, and the metal ring worked into the bezel adds real reinforcement to the polymer underneath.

The upgrade in navigation is the addition of multi-band GPS using SatIQ. The term “multi-band” means the watch can track satellites on two different frequency bands simultaneously. This lets the watch stay accurate in canyons and areas with heavy tree cover, where a single-band watch will drift.

SatIQ determines when it needs to use the additional precision versus returning to normal GPS. As a result, you aren’t wasting battery by using the additional precision during an easy road run.

In addition to being the most popular feature discussed, the flashlight’s variable-intensity settings let you use it for everything from locating items in a backpack to running trails after sunset. A red light setting conserves your night vision, while a strobe mode helps you stay visible on roads. Overall, the flashlight has enough intensity to replace a headlamp on hikes where you would normally bring one as a backup.

Garmin’s Instinct 3 GPS smartwatch tracks your health data all day long. It uses some pretty advanced features like heart rate monitoring, Sleep Coach with nap detection, Pulse Ox, HRV Status, Body Battery, and Training Readiness. Of those, Body Battery will be the feature you’ll use most often, because it gives you an energy score from 1 to 100 based on how much rest and relaxation you’ve had, your level of stress, and what you’ve done physically, and it tells you if your body is ready for a hard day. In addition, Garmin has added a new feature called Training Load Focus, along with Training Load Ratio, to help you better understand your training load.

The Garmin Instinct 3 GPS Smartwatch is available for $299 right now, down from its usual price of $450. Garmin Pay enables contactless payment, and Garmin Messenger lets you communicate while off the grid. This device can withstand swimming and diving thanks to its 10 ATM rating, and it can handle extreme temperatures and shocks thanks to its MIL-STD-810 certification. When you hold two Garmin watches together, you can also share a workout or a waypoint with each other using Garmin Share.
