The Nights and Weekends Editor will work three weekday evenings (4pm – 11pm ET) and Saturday and Sunday (9am – 5pm ET). During the week, you’ll do a mix of writing your own stories and editing stories from our West Coast reporters. On the weekends, you’ll focus on fast, smart news writing.

You are a fit for this role if:

  • You have a keen news sense and can identify stories that will resonate with our audience
  • have a punchy writing voice and are familiar with Gizmodo’s general tone and subject areas
  • You can self-direct, self-publish, and exercise strong editorial judgment while working solo during off-hours
  • You bring sharp angles and fresh framing to the day’s headlines, with a sense of humor and wit that matches Gizmodo’s style
  • You are familiar with the major players and trends in the tech world
  • You have a strong grasp of media law and journalistic best practices
  • You have the editorial sensibility to know when a story needs speed, when it needs depth, and when it needs both

This is a position covered under the collective bargaining agreement with the WGA-E. The salary range for this position is $70,000 – $85,000.
