After decades of wanting a Spaceballs 2fans will get their wish on April 23, 2027.

Amazon MGM broke the news Friday night, revealed Deadline. Production on the long-awaited sequel wrapped at the end of 2025, but this year’s April is pretty busy, and not many movies have hard 2027 dates around that time of year. As Deadline pointed out, the last week of April has been a moneymaker in the past: both Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame came out at the tail end of the month, ditto Fast Five, and all three became some of the biggest movies of their individual years. Not to mention the original movie’s turning 40 next year, not long after a certain landmark sci-fi film hits its own 50th. What’s that saying about poetry?

Directed by Josh Greenbaum, Spaceballs 2 will once again parody Star Wars and other media we’ll learn about once a trailer drops. Along with original stars Mel Brooks, Daphne Zuniga, and Bill Pullman returning to reprise their original roles, the cast includes Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, Lewis Pullman, and Anthony Carrigan. The biggest casting news is the sequel marks Rick Moranis’ return to film acting in 30 years.

So yeah, Spaceballs 2 hits theaters on April 23, 2027—good luck with the waiting and rewatching the first film.
