Most mini PCs handle email and web browsing, but anything beyond that can be a challenge. That’s where the GMKtec M6 Ultra Gaming Mini PC Ryzen 5 comes in. With an AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS processor with six cores, twelve threads, and a maximum clock speed of 5.0GHz, the M6 Ultra is ready for multitasking and some basic creative work. It also includes Radeon 760M graphics to provide light to moderate gaming performance. For connectivity, it offers two 2.5GbE LAN ports, Wi-Fi 6E, and a USB4 connection in a compact form factor that lets you place it right next to your monitor.
Right now, the GMKtec M6 Ultra Gaming Mini PC Ryzen 5 is $500 on Amazon, down from its regular price of $700. That knocks $200 off, a 29% discount.
A compact Ryzen 5 desktop with Radeon graphics and dual 2.5GbE ports
The M6 Ultra can serve as a home office computer, media center, light gaming rig, or even a small home file server, and it comes with Windows 11 Pro, DDR5 memory, and a pre-installed NVMe SSD, all in a compact chassis much smaller than a desktop tower.
AMD’s Zen 4 architecture powers the Ryzen 5 7640HS processor, which includes six CPU cores and twelve threads. Those six CPU cores can reach speeds of up to 5.0GHz. This provides ample power for most applications, such as spreadsheets, photo editing, keeping multiple browser windows and apps open simultaneously, and doing some light video editing, while avoiding many of the slowdowns that come with low-powered mini PC processors.
Integrated Radeon 760M graphics, based on AMD’s RDNA 3 GPU architecture, include eight CUs that operate at up to 2.6GHz. These graphics enable smooth, moderate gaming thanks to their ability to maintain steady frame rates with FSR. Beyond gaming, these graphics also support hardware encoding and decoding for AV1, HEVC, and AVC video.
One area the designers clearly addressed is connectivity. A USB4 port is available along with HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort. The USB4 port offers 40Gbps of bandwidth, allowing for simultaneous data transfer, display output, and power delivery to connected devices. Together, those outputs let you connect up to three separate monitors directly to the device. Two 2.5GbE Ethernet ports also give you fast wired networking. GMKtec notes that both Ethernet ports support firewall and router software packages such as pfSense and Untangle.
For upgrading purposes, the M6 Ultra supports up to 128GB of DDR5 RAM. The M6 Ultra also features dual M.2 slots providing additional storage capacity totaling up to 8TB. This gives you plenty of flexibility and headroom for future upgrades.
Wireless connectivity is handled via Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. The M6 Ultra features USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports on the front and back of the unit for connecting peripherals, plus a standard 3.5mm audio jack. GMKtec uses a dual-fan cooling design to help manage thermal levels within the GMKtec M6 Ultra Gaming Mini PC Ryzen 5. GMKtec also includes a one-year limited warranty with each purchase.
