The final marketing blitz for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which I sincerely hope is just 160 minutes of training sequences, is about to begin. In the meantime, we’ve got a couple tantalizing teasers to whet our space appetites.
First, we’ve got Rey training on Ahch-To, finally with a lightsaber instead of her trademark staff. (I love how we’re seeing a loose progression of Rey’s training just based on released footage.)
Then, courtesy of Good Morning America, we finally, frickin’... finally see the culmination of the final scene of The Force Awakens.
You can do it, Luke. You can take the lightsaber. You’re so close.
Meanwhile, the full trailer for the film will drop tomorrow night, during halftime on ESPN’s showing of Monday Night Football (it’s Vikings vs. the Bears, in case you were wondering). Immediately afterward, tickets will go on sale everywhere. A new trailer, shown on a Disney-owned network, followed by the opening of digital cash registers everywhere. Now that’s some capitalist synergy.
Meanwhile, if the wait is killing you, take some lessons from Master Skywalker himself. “Breathe. Just—breathe.”
UPDATE: Hey, we got five more seconds!
