I feel for you on this one, shippers. This show’s so committed to messing with you. Be aware that clicking through will bring you spoilers for the season 2 finale of Arrow.

This video popped up online last week when executive producer Marc Guggenheim promised to release the scene if fans got “trollenheim show us olicity kiss 2×23″ trending on tumblr. Look, I know tumblr tags are super long, but that’s just ridiculous.

This kiss proves that season 3’s commitment to exploring Oliver and Felicity’s viability as a couple has been in the works for a while. On the other hand, I’m really glad they cut it from the finale. In case you forgot, this whole exchange was written off in-show as a performance for Slade Wilson. The dialogue itself was a massive tease when it was revealed that Oliver was both hoping Slade would abduct Felicity and that she would realize the plan.

Adding the kiss to it would be a step too far. Even more blatant emotional manipulation than this show normally engages in. I’m actually really glad they didn’t keep this in. While the way they’ve gone this season has been heartbreaking in a different way, at least the emotions are indisputable.
