A lot of blockbusters are unveiling new trailers this week—but on the other end of the budget and hype spectrum is Hasraf “HaZ” Dulull’s indie scifi film The Beyond, which just dropped its own first trailer. It’s about robotically enhanced astronauts who travel through a wormhole, ominously dubbed “the Void.”

Uh, guys… that didn’t work out so well in Event Horizon. Will these high-tech adventurers fare any better? Dulull’s background is in visual effects; his credits include The Dark Knight and Hellboy II: The Golden Army. Judging from this first peek, filled with fantastical shots of outer space, The Beyond will rely heavily on its writer-director-editor’s skills in that realm.

The Beyond, which is set in the very near future, aims to pick up distribution by making the festival and film-market rounds.
