While it’s designed for those paralyzed with spinal cord injuries, this tricycle has a bright future as a weight loss device (says me). The idea is twelve types of awesome: by strapping up bum legs to a device that sends electrical pulses, the rider can force them to fire and power the bike—even if they are otherwise unable to use them. That means not only do the muscles in the leg remain strong but they provide the ability to get around to those who had been less than mobile. That’s just poetry.
It’s a human-powered bike with the “legs as the engine.” If this is viable for even those with the ability to control their legs without outside electrical stimulation, it would be a fun way to force yourself to exercise without needing any of that pesky willpower.
