BIOS Mag brings word that IBM will be selling a version of its ThinkPad T42 laptop with a built-in biometric fingerprint reader — they claim it’s the first of its kind.
It’s an interesting option, and from a personal security standpoint, I can see how it would add an extra bit of security, but I do wonder if any security admins out there are really finding fingerprint readers to be a critical part of a company’s defense infrastructure — enough to warrant the extra $180 or so the add-on costs. Anyone deploying biometric lockouts by default in your organization?
