In-Flight Internet, Phone Calls Coming

The following news could be good or bad: the FCC has started the auction process for the commercial licenses that will enable Internet access and voice over IP (VOIP) telephone calls on airline flights. The bids for these valuable frequencies are already over $5 million, where nine companies are fighting for the right to annoy you with other people’s phone conversations, or on the other hand, make the hours go by faster with Web access and chat from 35,000 feet. Seems inevitable, but good or bad?
