Om Malik points out that he’s lost two iPods in two days to the iPod updater. I just got my 3G 40GB back from the shop and updated with no problems today, but basically, keep a sharp eye — there may be a problem.
This is unrelated to the fuzzy playback issues some people have been reporting, as well. I trust that Apple will fix the problem if there is one, but of course they’ll have to acknowledge there is actually a problem first. Om took his iPod mini to the Apple store in San Francisco and swapped it out for a new one, but that still doesn’t mean no one else will have a problem. Basically, be aware, scouts.
