iWill ZMAXdp Dual-Opteron SFF PC Previewed

So I just spent entirely too much time reading about the new iWill ZMAXdp, a small form factor PC that has not one, but two AMD Opteron 64-bit processors inside of it. It’s not on sale yet, but Hexus was able to score a pre-release unit for review, and it’s absolutely one of the sexiest little machines I’ve seen in a long time, and I hate it for existing. You see, I had my heart set on picking up a new iMac at some point as new desktop machine, but I bet for something near the same price I could get one of these ZMAXdp cases, a couple of Opterons, and all the other accompanying necessary bits and not only have an ultra-quiet 64-bit machine on my desk, but one hell of a gaming rig, besides.

Among other nifty feautres, the ZMAXdp has an external SATA port on its rear faschia, so you could connect an external harddrive (presuming iWill machines a nice chassis for it, so you don’t have to just set it on your desk) and still use it as part of a RAID. The only downside? Using the external SATA connector disables on of the internal SATA ports. That’s a shame.
