Based on the fact that several of Fukushima’s reactors are now believed to have melted down, Japan’s nuclear safety agency is revising their figures on the amount of radiation spewed at the start of the crisis. By over 100%.

The government now says 770,000 terabecquerels of radiation were launched outside of the plant. The news coincides with the detection of plutonium in dirt over a mile away from the plant. You don’t want plutonium in your dirt. [Kyodo News]
