JVC has a new set of home theater systems out in Japan that transmit sound to the read speakers wireless via radio; a radio that, unfortunately, broadcasts on the 2.4GHz spectrum — the same frequency as Wi-Fi. The TH-SW5 otherwise looks like a solid system, but perhaps another model at 5GHz or 900MHz would be optimal. Or maybe — stay with me — user selectable frequency. There aren’t plans to release it here, though, to my knowledge, but I’d hate to be the Japanese consumer who has to choose between their network and their speakers.
My dream wireless speakers receive audio and power through a fixed microwave beam. If you couldn’t navigate through the matrix of flesh-searing invisible conduits, you wouldn’t be worthy to watch the extended edition of Groundhog Day.
