Motorola’s V8 PEBL is out and about at CeBIT, although it looks like we won’t be getting it in the US anytime soon (although I would be surprised, after the success of the RAZR, if all the new 4LTR phones don’t make it to America eventually). Anyway, part of the schtick with the PEBL was that it opened in a new and innovative way. Basically, you slide it down a few millimeters, before an internal spring flips it slowly open. The keypad is RAZR-like, which had been a bit of a mystery, I guess, but I don’t think any of us are really surprised. It’s not as small as I’d prefer, but it’s still nice enough, all the same.
If you click the image, I’ve got a small Quicktime clip of the opening and shutting.
