Make Outdoor Portraiture a Breeze With a Hacked Walking Stick Monopod

You find yourself in the woods. A babbling brook. A bald eagle lands on your shoulder. Nature in all her glory. But who will take the photographic proof? Turn your walking stick into a monopad, and snap photos from anywhere.

The process, by Instructables user Kiteman, is on the simpler side. After scooping out some of the original plastic and replacing it with mounting hardware, you can simply screw your camera into the top and pick a good point. Lean it against a tree. Dig it into the earth. Ask a bear to hold it. There are no doubt a fair share of urban applications for a useful, camera-mounted pole as well. [Instructables]
