MDA Compact Pocket PC Smartphone

T-Mobile UK is launching a new Pocket PC smartphone called the MDA Compact (originally the i-mate Jam), a smallish unit with a 1.3-megapixel camera and 64MB each of ROM and RAM. It doesn’t look like it actually has a keypad hiding inside its iPod-like casing, so presumably everything is done through the touchscreen. Some might be a little off-put by that, but it sounds like a reasonable compromise for smartphone users who probably will be dialing out of menus most of the time anyway. Although there’s no pricing yet from T-Mo UK, Expansys is pre-selling an unlocked version for £400.
