The Israeli settlement of Ariel just got a Nortel wireless mesh network. Big deal? Sure. Wireless municipal meshes will soon be commonplace and I we’d bet $5 that Europe and Asia—and now the Middle East—get them before us. Whereas carrier lobbyists quash public Wi-Fi here in the states, everyone else will be kicking our unmeshed butts and getting a high-speed network which allows for video municipal surveillance, remote water meter reading, and completely wireless voice and data communication.
