I’m sick and tired of subscriptions. We used to be able to just pay for something once, and then it’s ours. This would go for movies, video games, and more. Heck, now you can even get a toothbrush subscription just in case you wanted one more thing to forget you’re being charged for each month. Software is the big one, though. I didn’t mind spending a couple hundred bucks to have a program forever, but now Adobe, Microsoft, and others funnel everyone into a monthly membership instead. And sure, a dozen or so dollars per month sounds low at first, but even after just one year that tends to be more than it would have been if it was purchased outright one time.

Pay Once, Own It Forever

What these companies don’t want you to know though is that you can still find licenses for lifetime versions of their software out there—and for a fraction of what you’d expect! StackSocial is currently selling lifetime licenses for Microsoft Office Professional 2021. This is normally valued at $220, but for a limited time, the price has been reduced by a whopping 87%. This ends up taking it down to just $28 for a limited time.

The Microsoft Office Professional 2021 lifetime license is for Windows only, however. StackSocial does have an option for Mac user too, though. The Home & Business package for Microsoft Office for Mac is available. This too is on sale, but for not as steep as a discount. It’s normally $219, but a limited-time 58% discount takes it down to just $90.

Microsoft Office Professional 2021 includes the full suite of professional Microsoft apps including Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Access, and Teams. The Home & Business package for Mac users includes all of the same apps except it drops Publisher and Access from its suite.

Microsoft has shifted its focus almost entirely over to its cloud-versions and AI platforms. Microsoft 365 is the main advertising product for the Office apps and they are riddled with Co-Pilot AI. Not everyone wants that stuff in their daily workflow, so sticking with a 2021 version of the software is a great way to avoid that. Plus the subscription for Microsoft 365 starts at $10 per month for individuals. Sure, you get some extra features there like cloud storage through OneDrive, but you’ll end up spending more than you would on this StackSocial deal after just three months of use. After a whole year, you’ll have spend more than quadruple the price. Better off just paying $28 now and having access as long as you need.
