AkibaLive has some more information on the VAIO Pocket, the upcoming 20GB iPod-fighter from Sony. Looks like that screen is nicer than I first thought, with a 320 by 256 color display that has an integrated touchscreen with ‘G-Sense’ for navigating through the menus—certainly they’ve given some thought to the ease of the iPod’s interface and are trying to 1up them. In addition, the screen can be used to view stored photos (probably not movies, though) and, even better, album covers. That could be a very nice way to navigate through a series of albums, although I’ve found trying to match up album cover files to your music collection can be not worth the trouble. I’m definitely starting to warm up to this player.
